First Helicopter Ride to Catalina Island w. JJ Helicopters {w. video} #MyDayInLA

Last Friday my friend Valerie of TrustedTravelGirl invited me to join her on what would be my first helicopter ride. Wow, yeah. Wow… isn’t even the adjective to describe the experience of our journey to Catalina Island courtesy of Pilot Rick Rackauskas of JJ’s Helicopters in Torrance, CA.

4 seats.

1,000 feet above the ground.

125mph over the Pacific.

Did I mention how we flew with one door open the entire time?

…and I was completely sober.

Take a look at this little video of #MyDayInLA!

The views were absolutely breathtaking, and I’m still shocked at how I felt no fear while being inflight. I’ve been on plenty of planes and have seen lovely scenes of the country, but from this low height of 1,000-1,600 feet you’re really able to soak in the experience.

The water was a spectacular shade of blue. So vast, beautiful, and clear enough to see a whale, which we did! To have an arial view of a whale splashing in the Pacific Ocean was so memorable. Every day should feel this good.
