Of course I decided to fill the void of summer meets ending at Saratoga and Del Mar by purchasing a new outfit. It was the only way I could adequately cope with the feeling of emptiness after Labor Day Weekend ends.
I will be traveling back home to Saratoga this fall for a brief visit and I really wanted to create an ensemble that could be worn apple picking in Upstate NY, but could also be worn on a crisp night out alongside the Pacific. I went to the Uniqlo Store in Santa Monica and found the PERFECT pieces to mix and match for fall. Here’s my bicoastal #CiaratogaStyle for Labor Day Weekend:
#CiaratogaStyle: Labor Day Weekend with #WhereUniqlo @UniqloUSA
- Women’s Flannel Check Long Sleeve Shirt, $29.90, uniqlo.com
- Navy Blue Pleated Skirt, $14.90 (on sale), uniqlo.com
- Boots, $39.95, JustFab.com
- Oversized Bag, $20, dsw.com
- Wristlet Clutch, $49 coach.com
- Horse Bit Bracelet, $50, bluegrassbelts.com
I had a field day inside Uniqlo. I had never heard of the Japanese fashion retail company until I relocated to Los Angeles. Simplistic style for men, women, and children at a great price point. Some items were as low as $4.90 and there wasn’t a tag over $160. I was able to purchase the main pieces of my ensemble for under $45!
I gravitate to anything that is color of cognac. I’ve been waiting for September to arrive so I can whip out these amazing boots from JustFab. When wearing this type of outfit during the day I’d suggest using an oversized bag like the one I found at DSW. For transitioning into the evening, less is more. I’d use a small wristlet such as the leather one I’ve paired here from Coach.
That horse bit bracelet, though? It was the perfect accessory to accompany this outfit. Bluegrass Belts is a locally owned and small business based out of Kentucky that specializes in custom leather belts, key fobs and other great accessories for men, women & animals. Bluegrass Belts really encompasses all things Thoroughbred, farm to the racetrack. The leather used for their products is made of the same leather tack shops use for saddles and halters. Check out their site and browse their collection, or visit their Instagram!
I feel like I fit right in with the “Back to School” photos that are consuming my Facebook News Feed, which I love. Keep ’em coming, parents! Stay tuned for another blog showing more ways to mix and match these pieces this fall.
