#CiaratogaStyle: 8.4.2015 #AmericanPharoah Teal Tuesday

Teal Tuesday! American Pharoah teal, to be exact! Sunday’s Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park was yet another race to remember as our Triple Crown Champion continues to rule the world of horse racing by capturing his first win since June’s Belmont Stakes. Here’s the replay of his flawless performance just in case you missed it:

Today’s outfit is an oldie but a goodie that I decided to jazz up. Literally…with an up-do. I very rarely wear my hair in a high bun, but given this summer heat (and some awesome large earrings) I was ready to give a new look to this inexpensive maxi dress.
After adding the headband to high pony tail,  I felt like American Pharoah meets Princess Jasmine.  The turquoise color is just awesome…it never goes out of style and really helps make the gold accents stand out…like these earrings! Do you like how the dress gathers in the middle? I think it makes the maxi look extremely elegant, though it feels like you’re wearing a housecoat! Whenever I take this dress out the closet, I know I’m going to be comfortable the entire day.

It really is the perfect summer maxi! Wear it with wedge sandals or a simple flip flop like I decided to today. I remember paying less than $15 dollars for it at Forever21. Though it’s no longer in stock, maybe you’ll have some luck on their site finding another dress that’s similar.

This little number has stood the test of time over the last six years and I have some great memories wearing it, like this photo below of me and my close friend, Jordan from Saratoga Race Course back in August of 2009:
