#CiaratogaStyle: Opening Weekend @DelMarRacing

Did the middle of July sneak up on us, or what? Tomorrow the gates will open where the turf meets the surf…Del Mar!

I could try to explain to you the madness that is Opening Day at Del Mar, but I wouldn’t be able to give it proper justice. Let’s just say it’s quite the experience. I’m looking forward to another fun summer by the beach.

So, what to wear for Opening Day?

Opening Day @DelMarRacing 2014
Last year I was lucky enough to have the incredible designer Walter Mendez provide my outfit for Opening Day. The bright yellow dress was perfect for summer. It’s awesome neoprene material kept me surprisingly cool while running around in the heat outside at the races. I wore these super high heels (which of course didn’t last long) but came equipped with flats. I garnished my head with a blue Christine A. Moore fascinator – which coordinated with the color scheme of Del Mar.

Luckily this year’s ensemble naturally came together. I almost feel like tomorrow will be a bit of an outfit “Throwback Thursday” because the style is very similar to last year, except this time I paid much more attention to the details. I based this ensemble off of my latest Rocksbox, which came with 3 incredible pieces of jewelry. Here’s my opening day #CiaratogaStyle for Del Mar:

  #CiaratogaStyle: Opening Weekend @DelMarRacing

  • Dress: Symphony Fashion Pink Neoprene Flare Dress, symphonyfashion.com, $42
    • The website is a wholesale site, so make sure to check their Instagram! I purchased mine from the store Image in The Beverly Center in West Hollywood.
  • Rocksbox July Jewelry Items:
    • Perry Street Avery Necklace, $70
    • Kendra Scott Tessa Silver Stud Earrings in Platnum Drusy $52
    • Gorjana G Ring Set, $36
  • Mascara Plus Size Feather Fascinator, $75, Polyvore
  • New Look LaLa Ballet Pumps, $15, Polyvore
  • Floral Pattern Iphone Cover, $22, snapmade.com

The outfit is fun, flirty, and perfect for a day at Old Del Mar. Whether you’re at the trackside party or sipping champagne in the Turf Club, this ensemble is classic. I love the Rocksbox that I received for the month of July, and have been waiting to rock these jewels! If you’re unfamiliar with Rocksbox, it’s a website in which designer jewelry is sent to you on loan for a small fee each month. Should you enjoy one or all the pieces sent to you in the monthly box you can purchase them, or mail the Rocksbox back when you’re ready to try new items. On their website and Instagram, you’re able to add jewelry to your personal wish-list, and these are a few pieces that I flagged that I liked. The necklace makes a huge statement, and I had fun building the outfit from the platinum and orange colors. The stud earrings and stackable rings complement the necklace nicely. To try a *free* month of Rocksbox, swing over to their website and enter my code, “ciaratogaxoxo” during registration. You’ll have free jewels at your door within a week! 🙂

I carried the silver/platinum accents through with the remaining accessories. As you know, I’m a huge fan of the fascinator, so when I saw this grey one on Polyvore, I had to find one like it. It’s not every day that you can find grey peep-toe flats that completely match your hat either!

First Post for the Summer Meet at Del Mar is tomorrow, Thursday July 16 at 2:05pm (PST). Will I see you there? Swing by the blog tomorrow for horse-racing picks for the $100,000 Oceanside Stakes!
